What to Expect from Our Selection Process
We believe applying for a role should feel straightforward, transparent, and encouraging. At Atkinson HR, we support values-led organisations to design inclusive, structured recruitment processes - so you know what to expect at every stage.

Step 1: Application Form
​
Most roles begin with a short application form via our online portal, Hireful. This usually includes 2–3 tailored questions to help you demonstrate your experience, motivation, and connection to the organisation’s values.

You may be asked about:

Why you’re interested in the role and how your values align

Relevant achievements or experience

Your leadership or working style
​
Each answer will have a word limit (usually around 400 words). We recommend drafting your responses separately before submitting them.
Step 2: Upload Your CV
​
You’ll also be asked to upload an up-to-date CV that highlights your most relevant experience and helps us understand your broader professional background.

Step 3: Interview Stages
​
Most roles follow a two-stage interview process:

First Stage (Longlist) Interviews – These are usually held online (via Microsoft Teams) and focus on your experience, motivation, and alignment with the organisation’s goals.

Final Stage Interviews or Selection Days – These are typically in person and may include a task, presentation, or scenario-based questions. You’ll also have the chance to meet key staff and get a sense of the organisation’s culture.
We’ll always send clear information in advance so you feel well prepared.

Timelines & Key Dates

Each process has a clear timeline published in the recruitment pack, including:

We ask candidates to keep these dates free when applying.
